Week 37 was Labor Day week, causing a significant yet expected dip for staffing.
It can be challenging to quantify and compare with the significant dips of holiday weeks. To simplify and paint a clear picture of where we stood for 2020, we will compare Labor Day week this year to the previous two years in both Assignments and Hours. We’ll also include a projection on what to look for next week (week 38).
Labor Day fell on the latest possible date this year (September 7). In the previous two years, Labor Day fell a week earlier (week 36), which is reflected in the comparisons below for 2018 (September 2nd) and 2019 (September 3rd).
Here are the numbers:
While down overall, I’m encouraged by the Hours holding significantly better than they had in either 2018 or 2019. Behind the numbers – for clients that have been using Avionté prior January of 2018 – their Assignments held even better, posting only a -1.3% decrease last week.
To give us some insight into what we could expect for next week – here are the historical numbers that compare the weeks before and after the Labor Day Holiday Week.
With national unemployment claims holding steady this week, I expect a solid rebound next week. I’m hoping for a 4% increase in Assignments in week 38, representing a 1.2% increase over week 36. For Hours, I’m looking for a 15% bump, which is a 2.2% increase over week 36.
