Unfortunately, week 7 continued the softening of our labor market, albeit by modest amounts. Assignments were off by .3% and hours down by 1%. Here are the numbers:
Note the 4 week rolling average is negative for all major indices, which have wiped out most of our YTD gains. I’m particularly concerned with New Talent dropping off consistently, indicating less people applying for work. Unemployment claims have been oozing up, which to those of us in this industry, know there is a positive correlation there unfortunately.
