Avionté RAW: Real Analytics Weekly – Week 33
Certainly, those graphs look like a swoosh or checkmark to me! I’m very excited to see that all major YTD numbers are now nearing or above pre-COVID levels.
I continue to feel both optimistic and excited about the strength of the staffing industry recovery. I’m not sure this is perfectly labeled as a “swoosh” recovery, but I certainly like to see the up and to the right trend.
For those new to the Avionté RAW series, the numbers reflected are based on an aggregation of hosted Avionté data from hundreds of customers across the US and Canada.
As we enter the summer months, I’m quite interested in seeing how employment reacts to any economic concerns balanced by potentially more entrants into the workforce. For now, though, week 24 was a solid week across the board, highlighted by 3.4% growth in hours over week 23.
Here are the rest of the numbers:
From a composite stats point of view – the mean pay rate continued to slide, albeit slightly, from $16.87 to $16.77 per hour. Hours per assignment stayed flat, going from 32.90 in week 23 to 32.94 this week.
We are also tracking our distinct users as a proxy to see what staffing companies are thinking from an internal staff point of view. Week 24 continued a positive trend with a .9% increase. Certainly, the growth rate is less than hours or assignments, but that is to be expected.
Last week, we dropped the Total Bill metric due to the numbers being so skewed from the Memorial week catch up. Similarly, this week was dramatically up (18.3%, WoW!) due to the bounce back from the Memorial dip, which also doesn’t tell the correct story. Looking at a 2 week average (week 22 vs 24), we see a growth of 9.4% – which is a strong recovery.
Rate of change shows the percentage movement week-over-week in order to get a sense of trending up (or down) in addition to velocity.
The state is where the work was performed (customer worksite) and we’ve only included states where we have substantial hours (> 10,000), to help display trending. Note, these numbers still have the potential to be skewed by large bi-weekly payrolls or similar big swings.
