The Avionté Hope Foundation honored four individuals that were nominated as True Heroes. A true hero is someone who gives selflessly whenever they see a need, without expecting recognition or even a thank you. These heroes have donated a significant amount of time, talent and/or treasure in an effort to provide a hand up and improve the circumstances of less fortunate individuals.
Each of the heroes received a $500 donation to their favorite charity. Phil Emmerson, founder of Ten:27 Ministries will use the donation to continue outreach events in the Eagan MN area, such as sandwich making for the homeless, free oil changes, and the Ten:27 Thanksgiving basket project. Sarah Miller, who is an avid volunteer in several children’s ministries, church choir, and a local pregnancy resource center, selected Women’s Cancer Program of the Mayo Clinic. From a long list of organizations that Becky Fox is involved with, including The Link, Gillette Children’s Hospital and Three Rivers Park District, she chose Masonic Children’s Hospital of the U of M, where she volunteers by serving hot meals to families with a child in the hospital. Gretchen and Rick Peterson donated the $500 to Elk’s Welcome Home Veterans Program which helps homeless veterans move off of the street. They manage the program, apply for grants, collect supplies, and organize volunteers. These volunteers are not only an inspiration, they are True Heroes.
Each of the four heroes were nominated by an Avionté employee, who then acted as their sponsor. The sponsors researched and interviewed the volunteers, documenting their endeavors, which were shared at the event – much to the embarrassment of our humble heroes. The Avionté Hope Foundation would like to thank all of the True Heroes for their admirable contributions.
